Who says singers aren't tough?!

The BBC News reports that Puerto Rican soprano Ana María Martínez fell into an orchestra pit at Glyndebourne festival during a performance of Rusalka on Friday.

Our favorite part of the article: "Despite Ana María wanting to continue with the performance, she was immediately taken to hospital as a precautionary measure."

Singers: be careful out there! And instrumentalists: watch out for falling singers!

  1. Miriam, I swear something like this happened to you once...some sort of accident/injury that you ignored in order to finish a performance. You opera divas! Tough as nails. Of course, one time Patrick went off the edge of the stage during James and the Giant Peach, and finished the rest of the show. While not the level of prestige as this, I was still impressed. Perhaps he should have been an opera singer.

  2. That's why, when I direct, there is NO orchestra pit! That, and I really don't want to fall myself...
